3.27.08

This can't possibly be Spring! Four days after Easter and we're still having snowstorms! Today's snow was wet and sticky, creating beatiful images in the trees like this one. Thankfully, it didn't stick to the roads and create driving nightmares. However, we did have about four inches today to add to this year's total snowfall, bringing the grand total to over 76 inches! Because it technically is Spring, it will all but melt by this time tomorrow...

I'm looking forward to a 3-day weekend, courtesy of my cool, new boss. No plans yet, but I'm sure I'll find something to do. Hopefully, we'll have no more of this snow and Bailey and I can get out and about...

This is a compilation of commercials for the Suburban Auto Group in Sandy, Oregon. Hilarious!

Sunday project

For today's crafting project, I decided to try another Tim Holtz challenge. I have really been fascinated with his inking techniques and recently purchased some of his latest product, 'Grungeboard'. The challenges on his blog give great step-by-step instructions and pictures. My goal was just to create a similar tag using the supplies that I had; all in an effort to get out of my crafting 'rut'. I find my eye drawn to all things vintage these days... What do you think?

finally legal

After living here for 11 1/2 months, I finally decided it was time to go get an Iowa Driver's License and License Plates, as well as register to vote. So, yesterday I headed to the DMV. I was fully prepared to spend the better part of the day on this task (something I had learned from dealing with the Arizona DMV). But, much to my surprise, I was in and out of both places within 15 minutes! Had I known it would be so easy, I would have done it months ago!

Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me

My friend Jennifer is a big American Idol fan and very often posts her favorite Idol performances on her blog. She has inspired me to hunt down my ABSOLUTE favorite moment, which came on the 2006 season finale show and featured my favorite idol, Clay Aiken. Enjoy!

Okay, while we're at it, here's another:

Okay, I admit it, I'm a Claymate! One more:

damsel in distress

I did manage to get creative this afternoon. I have been going through a little bit of a 'creative block' lately and had been searching for something new to try. I found this "January Technique Challenge" on Tim Holtz's Blog, so I decided to give it a try and see how close I could come to his creation. (See his link on the left had side of this page.) It's hard to believe that the tag started out as a piece of white cardstock! I love how I already had all of the supplies in my craft closet - a testemonial to my frequent trips to Hobby Lobby and Michael's and the wonders of a 40% off coupon! The more I do with my distressing supplies, the more I like this vintage, old-fashioned look.
What do you think?

just LOOK at that belly!

My little patient is recovering nicely - with a belly full of scrambled eggs on a lazy Sunday morning, LOL! She seemed to be feeling much better, so I took her on a little field trip to PetSmart last night. (Because she only has a few teeth left, she'll have to eat a mix of wet and dry food from now on, so we had to stock up.) After that, we stopped at Lowe's to see my friend, Elizabeth, who is absolutely in love with Bailey, and then we drove by Best Buy to see brother-in-law, Jeff. It was a nice little outing for her. I think we are both way past the initial stages of 'cabin fever' and can't wait for the roads to clear and the weather to warm up.
Speaking of weather, we started Daylight Saving Time this morning so our clocks jumped ahead an hour. However, there's no sign of Spring in sight, as the forecast has a 30% chance of snow with temps around 30 degrees... We'll probably head out here for a short walk and then I'll probably do some scrapping or card making...
Have a wonderful Sunday!

my poor baby...

Well, she's home and recovering slowly. Because Bailey's periodontal disease is so severe, they pulled 13 teeth, including her top left fang. That leaves her with just 5 or 6 teeth left... She is on big-time antibiotics and pain meds, but still cried half the night. She seems better this morning and actually sat in the kitchen and watch me put some chicken in the crock pot. (There's a surprise, she's motivated by food, LOL!) She's gone back to bed now, though, and is buried deep down between the pillows. I'll be staying home today to make sure that she stays quiet; I've got a new book to read, so I'll be happy to lie in bed all day with her. She'll be just fine in a couple of days...

Bailey's at the vet today!

Well, I'm really out of sorts this morning. I absolutely hate it when I have to leave the dog at the vet - it's like part of my puzzle is missing. It didn't help matters that she is not familiar with this vet and looked really scared as they led her off... Thankfully, nothing is seriously wrong; she just has to have her teeth cleaned and they need to put her under, just as if she was having surgery. Then they go in, deep clean her teeth, remove any really bad ones and then wake her up. I'll be able to go get her at 3:00, but it's always the longest 8 hours of my life.
