Simple Sunday

It's another lazy Sunday. I got up early, 'kidnapped' Jacob and Shelby and took them to breakfast at Village Inn. After that, we took Bailey some leftover eggs and then decided that she would like to go to the Bark Park. So off we went. We let her run for a good 45 minutes and then Bailey and I dropped the kids back off at home and headed for home ourselves. Bailey immediately started her morning nap and I started making some greeting cards. Mary's birthday is later on this week and I realized that I'm low on cards. Plus, I'm thinking of wrapping up a stack of cards to give to Mom for Mother's Day. (You know how moms love that handmade stuff!) So, I've been sitting at my craft table all afternoon, making cards and watching movies on Lifetime... (Yes, the Lifetime Network!) Here's a sample of what I've done so far:

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

reduce, reuse, recycle

Paper or Plastic? Which is better for the environment? Neither! Just the simple act of not taking a plastic or paper bag from a store when you checkout can go a long way towards reducing landfills and reducing a company's need to use petroleum and raw timber to make their bags. Why not purchase those reusable totes from your local grocery store? I did and I just love 'em. What used to fill up about 10 of those plastic grocery sacks now fits into 2 totes that aren't even that heavy and can be carried into the house in one trip.
Think about it! Making one small change can make a difference.
Happy Earth Day!

Simple Sunday

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon. It's a beautiful day out; the Beagle has been walked and is now napping. I have the makings of a loaf of country white bread going in the bread machine and will be grilling pork chops for dinner - yummy! In the meantime, I've settled down at my scrap table and am working on some new layouts.

Because I am hardly ever in the pictures that I scrap, I made a point of finding a photo and doing a page all about me. Here's what I came up with:

Here's the layout I created about our Easter Egg Hunt this year:

shaken, not stirred

Apparently we had an eartquake at 4:37 am this morning! The 5.2 earthquake was centered in southern Illinois and evidently rocked people and buildings as far away as Chicago, Milwaukee and Des Moines. Of course, I didn't feel a thing and Bailey never even moved, so that whole theory of dogs warning you of the danger ahead of time is a bunch of crap! Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of injuries and only a few reports of minor damage. Just another rockin' day in the Midwest...

more life lessons I've learned from my dog:

  • Don't stress about tomorrow; enjoy the moment, each taste, touch, sound and smell - right here, right now.
  • When it gets too noisy, seek refuge in a different room.
  • Never miss out on a chance at adventure.
  • Naps are a good thing.
  • Love unconditionally.

Spring has sprung!

Spring has arrived! Sunny days, temps in the 60s, not a single pile of snow in sight. Woo-hoo! It's time to pack up the winter coat, scarf & gloves and drag the short-sleeved stuff out from the back of the closet. Bailey has Spring Fever, too. She has become a little terrorist with her demands to go with me in the car or out for a walk - no more frozen paws! She does have a point, though. It's time to get out of the house and get some exercise!
This was a pretty busy week. I had to go to Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday for work, a year beginning LP Kickoff meeting. Surprise, surprise! I was named "Rookie of the Year" for the region, kind of a big deal it seems. Apparently, I have a promising career with Lowe's Loss Prevention, LOL. (Lord knows I'm nearly twice as old as most of the 'rookies'.) Then, it was back to reality on Friday and Saturday, with lots of stuff to get caught up on since I had been gone.
Today is a day off and we are headed down to Jacob's Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast. Later on, we're having a BBQ over at Mary's house to celebrate brother-in-law Jeff's birthday. In between, I'll make some time to take the little terrorist for a l-o-n-g walk...
Have a great day!
